Taiwan - Day 5

After our hearty breakfast in the hotel this morning, we headed to Taichung Station to catch the high speed train back to Taipei...Lil' Angel fell asleep just when we arrived at Taichung Station.

Taichung Station...

Taking pictures while waiting for the train to arrive...

Here comes the train...

Mommy's turn to take picture with the train...

Together...

Lil' Angel still sound asleep...

Inside the train...

Bought this ultra cute Doraemon cakes from 7-eleven to try! A bit sweet but I am sure Lil' Angel will love it. I love the 7-elevens here...they have lots of interesting snacks!

Lil' Angel is finally awake! She is very amused at the Doraemon which I just gave her...

Say Cheese!

We are back in Taipei! The train ride only took fifty minutes as compared to two-and-a-half hours by bus...super fast!

At the Taipei MRT Station...

Our tour leader briefing us...we will be taking the MRT to Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Station which is only two stations away...

On board the train...

At the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Station...

Outside the Station...

Freedom Square...

Still eating her Doraemon cakes...which she so affectionately calls "Ding Dang"...

Grouchy look cos we were waiting in the hot sun trying to have a BIG TOUR GROUP picture taken...

Oooooohhhhh...hurry up...

Happy once more cos the group picture has been taken!

Lunch at Five Dime Restaurant. It's hard to miss this eye-catching restaurant next to the Miramar Entertainment Park. The elaborately sculpted façade joins driftwood, iron sheeting, and flagstone into two female aboriginal dancers with flowing skirts and hair. The owner, Hsieh Li-hsiang, has also adorned the interior with her artistic female-themed creations to truly set this restaurant apart from the crowd.

Lots of sculptures and art pieces being displayed in the restaurant...

The three ladies...

The restaurant is about 5-storey high...and there's a "river" at the bottom most level...

Lil' Angel on the old-fashion high chair...

Our appetizer...Milk Pudding...somewhat like mochi...

Dish with a unique name - Fly's Head...doesn't sound very appetizing! It's actually long beans.

Mommy was so fascinated with food and decor that she forgot to take pictures of the food! If you like to see more pictures of the restaurant and food, you can try googling...

After lunch, we headed to The Princess House where we were HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to buy the magical Ling Zhi...

Lil' Angel was definitely not interested in the sales talk...she decided to run out of the shop...

Mommy & Daddy were not interested too so we decided to go to the nearby convenience store to see if they have any Doraemon cakes as Lil' Angel is crazy over them!

Next stop was to Taipei 101, the world's tallest building! It is actually 91-storey high, I expected it to be 101-storey high...

We are on the ground floor...can't wait to go up...

The street opposite Taipei 101...

Waiting for our tour leader to get us the passes to the top...

The lift lobby...

We are finally at the top of the building...and Lil' Angel slept through it all!

On top of the world!

Our Merlion being compared to Taipei 101!

The elevator was super fast indeed!

Mailbox in the Sky!

After we were done at the top, we went back down for some shopping! All the branded stores...

Lil' Angel is finally awake!

Holding hands with Damper Baby, Taipei 101's Mascot...

Thomas the Train!

Ooooohhhh...mochi! Mommy's fave...especially black sesame!

Mochi coated with lots of black sesame and sugar...too much for my liking!

Ice-cream!

Yummy looking buns and pastries...

We headed to MetLife Shopping Mall which is opposite Taipei 101...

Outside the Mall...

After shopping, we went for a sumptuous Teppanyaki Dinner at a very chic restaurant...

The chef hard at work frying the garlic fried rice...

Kiwi Juice for Mommy. Lil' Angel got her own cup of OJ...

The appetizer...

Mushrooms for the Mushroom Soup...

Soup being poured out from the teapot...

Daddy's Soft Shell Crab Salad with Pumpkin...

Mommy's Fruit Salad with Raspberry Sorbet...

Half of Daddy's Main Course...Teppanyaki Chicken which was done very nicely! The other half of the mains was seafood...

Chef setting alight the beef!

Yummy Rib-Eye Steak for Mommy...this is also just half of the mains. The other part was diced beef...even yummier!

Gong Gong's Dessert...

Fruit Chocolate Fondue for Mommy!

Mama's Cake...

The Restaurant...

That's the name of the restaurant! We went back to the Taipei Garden Hotel extremely full and satisfied!
